Hi all! I had a busy February so I hadn't gotten around to posting an update. I've made a few enhancements over the last two months, here are the details!

Tag Filtering and Column Sorting

Hopefully you've been using the new tag functionality rolled out in January, which lets you freely tag songs with metadata that makes sense to you. You can now click on tags to filter by them on the song list, making browsing for songs a little easier.

Name and Artist can now be sorted on in the Songs list, both ascending and descending. Click on the column heading to sort and adjust the type of sorting.


New Dashboard Graph

On the homepage, you can now see a straightforward breakdown of songs by category (Exercises, Learning, Repertoire, and Open Practice).

Open Jam

Want to jump into practicing right away without creating a routine? Simply hit the Open Jam button on the Practice Routine list to start an informal practice session right away!

Book Selector

When creating or editing a song, you can now select a book you've already entered.

Upcoming Features

Here are some of the feature I'm considering working on. Let me know if they are interesting to you, and I'll adjust my priority accordingly!

  • Advanced Smart Songs - being able to build your own formula for smart song selection using tags, books, and more.
  • More analytics - See in more visuals for the practice history for a song, or how long it took to get to your repertoire.
  • Badges! Earn badges for practice streaks and other achievements.
  • Data exports - export your practice logs to run your own analysis on.
  • Calendar view - see how your practice history looks on a calendar.
  • Sound customization - be able to customize the 'move on' and metronome tones.
  • Practice Log Editing - Be able to add to and edit your own practice logs.

tuneUPGRADE now available as iOS and Android apps!

One of the most common features asked about initially was the ability to install tuneUPGRADE as a mobile app. Most users wanted this so they could run tuneUPGRADE in the background while using other apps on their mobile phone. This was tough to do when it's opened in a browser tab, and on iOS, the timer would even stop running! In order to solve this quickly, tuneUPGRADE allows you to install as an app directly from the website itself. Simply log in, navigate to your account, and select 'Install' on the left (alternatively, click here ). If you are on Chrome on Android, PC, or Mac, an installation button will be present. Click install to simply install tuneUPGRADE as an app. If you are on Safari on iOS, on the 'Install' page, click the Share button, then 'Add to Home Screen'. Now, when launched from the home screen, tuneUPGRADE will open as an app, allowing it to live outside of Chrome/Safari, and best of all, on iOS, the practice timer will run pr

As you use tuneUPGRADE as your music practice tracker, you might start refining and tweaking your daily practice routine. But what makes a good music practice routine? How do you set up routines to make your practice time as effective as possible? Here are my personal top10 aspects of an effective practice routine. 1) Don't procrastinate - start as soon as you can!
